Buckeye Large Animal Scholarship Fund
Welcome – Be the Model, Make an Impact!
The retirement of “Baby-Boomer” aged, Large Animal Veterinarians is reducing the number of veterinary specialists trained to treat our Alpacas. The lack of scholarships discourages students from pursuing Large Animal veterinary medicine. OSU annually awards $1.7 million in scholarships, all directed by the donors to students pursuing small and companion animal vet medicine. There are NO scholarships for students pursuing Large Animal Vet Medicine.
The Buckeye Alpaca Show has established a current use scholarship fund with the Ohio State University Foundation for the benefit of The College of Veterinary Medicine. Proceeds from the Live Auction and profits of the Buckeye Alpaca Fall Fest will be directed to this fund on an annual basis. This fund will provide $5,000 annual scholarships for third and/or fourth year veterinary students who have an interest in practicing large animal including equine medicine. Recipients shall be selected in accordance with the current guidelines and procedures. Preference shall be given, as appropriate, to those students who have interned in large animal, volunteered to assist, and/or have attended the bi-annual OSU Camelid Veterinary Conference. Recipients will be offered free mentoring in camelid, large animal and equine veterinary medicine and management by individuals, breeders and veterinarians associated with the Buckeye Alpaca Show, Inc..
Supporters of The Buckeye Alpaca Show, Inc., a 501c3 Public Charity, are encouraged to donate directly to the “Buckeye Large Animal Scholarship Fund”. The donation form is attached as the PDF below.
